HEALTHCARE
How AMRs are changing logistics in the healthcare and hospital sector
Hospitals and the healthcare sector are becoming more like factories, focusing on efficiency. AMRs are increasingly used to take over non-value-added tasks, such as moving materials and pushing carts. AMRs are hereby used in hospitals to ensure optimized logistics and to help staff to concentrate on their core care expertise to provide better patient care.
AMRs improve workflows in hospitals and healthcare centres
Moving something from one place to another is a non-value-added operation that can be done efficiently by a mobile robot. In particular, the main AMR tasks in hospitals include the transportation of:
- Waste bins and trolleys
- Linen transportation
- Meals from the kitchen to wards and the return of empty trays
- Sterile supplies transportation
- Transportation of medicine, pharmacies, laboratory tests etc.
Moreover, another application is the disinfection robots, that are AMRs with UV emitter that kills viruses and bacteria. This is increasingly used to efficiently clean hospital wards and operation theaters.
